"Shotover" Dugong Watching Tour

After fishing, Nic and I went on our dugong watching tour. Dugong look exactly like manatees except they have a pointier face and are brown not grey. I'm not sure what we were exactly expecting to see but honestly, dugongs don't do a whole lot. They basically look like big brown slugs in the water. They take so long to come to the surface to take a breath.. Its like a 5 minute anticipation period and all they do is take a breath for a second. It was a pretty cloudy day so it was a little hard to see them in the water. The best view we got of them was of their noses when they came up to breath. I was glad we went on the tour but it wasn't really the excitement that I was hoping for.

They gave us these funny grandma polarized glass to help us spot the dugongs.

There's a dugong nose!
Dugong tail!
Dugong!
Another Dugong!
And another!
